WMCC – game 7

IRELAND 3 SCOTLAND 7

Despite a promising start, Ireland were outplayed by a talented Scottish team who ruthlessly snuffed out any chance of an Irish comeback after they scored a game turning three in the third end.

The Irish team have been looking forward all week to playing the Scots, and were in the zone for the draw shot challenge when they got the hammer in the first end, scoring one. Another stolen single in the second gave them confidence but the third undid all the good work when Scotland got stones behind cover and there was no way in for the Irish.

It was an upward climb to get anything going after that and despite another single the Scottish Mixed Champions were totally in control of the game which finished with handshakes at the end of the seventh when Irish skip John Wilson’s last stone draw slipped past the Scottish shot stone.

On a positive note, the team are into the last 16 of a World Championships and hopefully we will soon find out who their opponents will be either at nine in the morning or one in the afternoon.

Come on Ireland!
