Andrew wins hard fought Fyfe Trophy

Six teams of curlers took part in the Irish Open Championships for the Fyfe Trophy at Greenacres Ice Rink today.

After four games of four ends, the gold medal winners were Andrew Gilmore, Jen Ward, Denise Lawler and Maria O’Neil. They received the Fyfe Trophy from Anne Gibson, representing the Fyfe family.

Bronze medals for Gillian, Alison, Denis and Louise

The silver medals went to Bill Gray, Christine Furey, David Hume and Frances Donald and the bronze medals went to Alison Fyfe, Louise Kerr, Gillian Russell and Denis Lawler.

The consolation prizes went to Carolyn Hibberd, Jason Medhurst, Ian Donald and Trish Boult.

Special awards were given to two curlers who had traveled from Dublin to play. Most Improved Player was Donncha O Conmhui and shot of the day went to Denis Lawler.
