Committee Elections 2010
The I.C.A. AGM is on 27th March 2010 (after the Greenacres Bonspiel) and rather than the Committee making the nominations,
the Members are invited to make Nominations for
a Vice President, and
two Committee Members.
Any nominated persons must have indicated willingness to serve.
Nominations to John Burns by 1st March 2010 please.
Like many other associations we are keen to open up the management of our association.
Membership of various steering groups
will be fluid and there will not be quorums as these groups will be making recommendations and proposals to the general committee.
The conveners of these groups can be committee members but this is not essential. The convener will have to report by email to
the committee and if required, in person.
The ideal number of members for the general committee shall be 8 or 9. Ordinary committee members will serve 3 years
with at least two positions electable each year. The vice president can be elected from the committee or general
membership. Members can stand as a general committee member and vice president. In this instance if an individual
elected vice president also receives the highest or second highest number of votes for general committee membership
then the individual placed 3rd in the election MAY be opted onto the committee if required. The vice president will
normally spend one year on the committee as president elect, two years as president and one year as past president.
Vice presidential elections therefore will be bi-annual with general committee elections annually.
The committee will normally comprise; President, past president or president elect (in alternate years), secretary,
treasurer and 4-5 ordinary members and any of our representative members if not already a committee member.
Election will be by secret ballot at the AGM. Those unable to attend the AGM will be able to submit their vote to
the secretary (without anonymity obviously). CVs of those wishing to seek election will be publicised on the website
and distributed at the AGM. The nomination for vice president will require to be signed by at least 5 ordinary members
and one committee member. This position is open to all members even if they have previously been president.
We are also currently looking at opening up election of our representative members.
The full committee generally meets about every six weeks or so, although this is variable. Meetings are held in central Scotland, usually in the evening.
