Held at Greenacres Ice Rink in Ayrshire, Scotland on Friday 19th March 2010.
This friendly annual event was revived by the ICA in 1994 but was first played in 1861.
Originally we hoped to play it alternating between Irish and Scottish ice rinks,
however we cannot provide ice time in Ireland at the moment, so
we hosted the event at Greenacres Ice Rink.
The Trophy is the Belfast Medal hanging in a wooden curling stone.
The medal was originally played for between Belfast Union and RCCC.
The competition was played on two rinks. The ICA curlers were
* Tony Tierney, David Whyte, Charlotte Teirney and Christine Furey.
* Marie O'Kane, Carolyn Hibberd, Craig and Gilly.
Tony's team won 13-7 against J. Pringle and Marie's team lost 7-2 to G. Auld, so in aggregate and by the narrowest of margins we retained the trophy.
Both games were enjoyed
by all and played in the best of spirit then discussed over coffee and sandwiches after the match.
Tony Tierney from the ICA committee, said a few words
and hoped that we may yet host the game in Ireland.
