Ardrossan Castle Friendly 2021 CANCELLED @ Greenacres Curling Rink
Jan 10 @ 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Irish Curling Association
vs
Ardrossan Castle C.C.

This annual fixture will take place at
Greenacres Curling Rink
on Sunday 10th January 2020
at 12.30 pm over 2 sheets of ice.

The ICA is looking for 8 curlers to play in this friendly annual fixture.

The game will be followed by tea/coffee and sandwiches.

We are looking for individual players to make up two teams to play this important fixture. If you are available please contact us.

This friendly annual event was revived by the ICA in 1994 but was first played in 1861. Originally we hoped to play it alternating between Irish and Scottish ice rinks, however, we cannot provide ice time in Ireland at the moment.

The Trophy is the Belfast Medal hanging in a wooden curling stone. The medal was originally played for between Belfast Union and RCCC.

Four Nations CANCELLED @ Ayr Ice Rink
Jan 29 – Jan 31 all-day

This event has been cancelled due to COVID.

The next Four Nations event will be organised by Scotland in 2022 – and held in Ayr Ice Rink, Scotland. The national associations for each country compete for seven trophies.

The 2023 Four Nations will be hosted by Ireland.

Ireland competes for the Hugh Meikle Memorial Trophy against Wales, the Turnbull Cup against England, and the Marshall Millenium Trophy against Scotland.

The Four Nations competition is an enjoyable and social weekend tournament between the governing bodies of each of the home nations (England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales).  It has evolved over a number of years with the first recorded games taking place in the early 1900s.  The tournament is hosted in turn by each of the four nations annually towards the end of January.
